Residents of Makurdi, the Benue State capital are calling on the federal and state government to come to their aid after torrential rainfalls between Sunday and Thursday left close to 3,000 houses submerged with thousands rendered homeless. According to Guardian, the victims claim there is still no provision for temporary shelters and relief materials, saying emergency agencies are not handling the disaster properly.
