The Nasarawa State Government and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have signed a $500,000 US dollar grant aimed at strengthening primary healthcare system in the state. Mr Dana Hovig, Director of Integrated Delivery, at the foundation, while signing the agreement on Friday in Lafia, said the two years grant was to mainstream performance-based financing into the state’s primary healthcare system. Flood: Lagos gives quit notice to owners of properties built on drainage

In a bid to mitigate the incidence of flooding, the Lagos State government on Sunday ordered owners of properties erected on drainage channels and impeding the free-flow of water to immediately vacate or risk being removed. The government, in a statement signed by the Commissioner for the Environment, Babatunde Adejare, expressed dismay that the lawless activities of some people were constantly putting the lives and property of residents at risk. Sacked air force officer lead Boko Haram attack in Kano

A Boko Haram suspects who engaged the police in a gun battle in Kano was dismissed from the Nigeria air force. Rabiu Yusuf, commissioner of police in the state, told newsmen on Sunday. The incident happened at Gaya in Unogo local government area of the state. Yusuf said the dismissed officer escaped with gunshot wound. Five suspects were later arrested.
