Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo today visited the situation room of the N-Power programme,the Federal Government’s job creation and empowerment scheme.
Prof. Osinbajo who arrived at exactly 10.29 a.m was conducted round the office where he interacted with some members of the social media response team and inquired about how the team is responding to enquiries from applicants and how the job is being done.
Head of the N-Power team, Ibilola Essien spoke about the unprecedented enthusiasm of Nigerians about the scheme and revealed that in less than 30 days, about 2.3m applications had been received. She also revealed that each member of the response team attend to about 1,000 questions per day. Prof Osinbajo later went to the call centre section and also observed first hand the way operations are done.
The Acting President later spoke to the press. In his remarks, he declared that the N-Power Programme is not only unparalleled in scale but more than a job creation scheme. He stated that the programme also enhances the learning and development of skills.
In order to give more Nigerians the opportunity to apply, Prof Osinbajo directed that the deadline for end of applications which should have ended on 13th July be extended by two weeks. See pictures after the cut:
